What is in the kit
- A bottle with concentrate - usually 60 or 120 ml, filled with flavors to 15-25%.
- Base - a mix of VG and PG, sometimes included, sometimes bought separately.
- Nicotine base - optional, if you want strength. We do not sell nicotine products.
Longfill or shortfill
A shortfill already contains the finished nicotine-free liquid and leaves room for a nicotine shot; a longfill holds only concentrate and needs to be topped up with base. With a longfill you choose the VG/PG ratio yourself.
How to mix a longfill
- Check on the bottle how much concentrate it holds and to what volume it is topped up.
- Work out how much base and, if needed, nicotine base to add - the calculator is below.
- Add the nicotine base, then VG/PG up to the mark.
- Close the bottle and shake for 1-2 minutes.
- Let it steep: fruit flavors are ready in a day, desserts and tobaccos in a week.
Calculator for a longfill
The example is a 60 ml bottle holding 12 ml of concentrate, i.e. 20% of the final volume. Enter your volume, the share of concentrate, the strength and the VG/PG ratio - the calculator shows how much of each to add.
| Component | ml | g | % |
|---|---|---|---|
| VG | 30 | 37.83 | 50 |
| PG | 18 | 18.65 | 30 |
| Longfill concentrate | 12 | 12.43 | 20 |
| Total | 60 | 68.91 |
Actual: VG 50% · PG 50% · nicotine 0 mg/ml
Common mistakes
- Topping up by eye. The concentrate is made for a specific volume: too little base makes the taste harsh, too much makes it flat.
- Forgetting the PG in the concentrate. The concentrate is almost all PG, so the finished liquid is thinner than the base. The calculator shows the actual ratio.
- Not steeping. Right after mixing the taste is flat - wait at least a day.
FAQ
Can I mix a longfill without nicotine?
Yes, just top it up with VG/PG base to the full volume.
Which base should I use?
50/50 for pods, 70/30 VG for sub-ohm tanks. Bases are in the market.
How is a longfill different from DIY from scratch?
In a longfill the flavor is already chosen and blended. From scratch you choose the flavors and percentages yourself - see How to make e-liquid.
